Q. How do I apply?
A. The application will open on October 3rd, 2011 for the 2012 seminar(s) and the deadline is on October 28th, 2011. You need to first download the application and send it to the secretariat of Ritsumeikan University.
Make sure to pay the service charge for the seminar to complete your registration by October 28th also. Further information will be provided on the seminar website.

Q. Am I eligible to apply?
A. The seminar is targeted to law students/professionals
as well as to those specializing in other fields interested in legal aspects
of Japanese society. Undergraduate and graduate students, as well as professionals,
are welcome to apply. Participants are also expected to have the ability
to read, write and discuss in English; knowledge of the Japanese language
is not required. In the previous seminars, participants came from many different countries,
some of whom worked as legal professionals.
Q.Will I be accepted?
A. The application will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis as long as the applicant is eligible to apply. Your registration will be completed upon the confirmation of your payment.
Q.What is the difference between the Kyoto Seminar and the Tokyo Seminar?
A. The Kyoto Seminar is an introductory course which provides participants with an opportunity to study Japanese law in a wide range of subject area, including civil justice, gender and the law, public law, and business law, while experiencing life in Kyoto - Japan’s beautiful former capital city and the heartland of traditional culture. The Tokyo seminar is an advanced course which allows participants to study Japanese business law more intensively, while staying in Tokyo -the Japanese economic core and a major global financial center. The seminars can be completed in any order, though it is advisable to attend the Kyoto Seminar first, as it provides a general introduction to Japanese Law.
Q. Do you provide accommodation for the participants?
A. We do not offer on-campus or off-campus accommodation owned by the university. You need to make arragement for your own accommodation. Both Kyoto and Tokyo are popular cities to visit for tourists from all over the world. You can choose your place to stay from various types of accommodation. We provide information to assist you in finding accommodation that is right to you. Please check Accommodation for details.
Q. What other expenses are required besides the program fee?
A. Besides the program fee, which covers the cost of the lectures; opening and closing ceremonies; and administration, participants
are required to pay for their own accommodation, visa application, travel, insurance, transportation in Japan, meals
and other personal expenses.
Q. Is any preparation required?
A. From the Moodle site, participants are able to download the reading materials for each class in PDF format. Participants are encouraged to read these materials before class. We will be putting the materials on the Moodle site as soon as lecture material is finalised.
You need an Enrolment key to view the materials and it will be given after your registration is confirmed.
